    VICKSBURG, Miss…The annual physically challenged deer hunt at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Mississippi Valley Division conducts 2015 All Hazards Exercise

    VICKSBURG, Miss., June 15, 2015 – As the first named tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico, Bill, barrels towards the already flood ravaged state of Texas, the Mississippi Valley Division will conduct an interagency All Hazards Exercise to practice its response and recovery activities if a disaster strikes the Mississippi Valley Division’s Area of Operations. The All Hazards Exercise will include planning discussions for hurricanes, floods, severe weather and earthquakes that could strike the region.
  • Arkabutla Lake Archery Deer Hunt Registration Opens

    VICKSBURG, Miss…A special management archery deer hunt will be held at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Arkabutla Lake October 9-12, and October 23-26, 2015, with each hunt lasting two days. Applicants must be legal residents of Mississippi, and be at least 16 years of age. Applications for this hunt will be available July 22, 2015, at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office. The deadline for receiving applications is August 26, 2015, 3:00 p.m. A public drawing will be held September 9, 2015, 9:00 a.m., at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office.

    Vicksburg, Miss… Don’t let recent heavy rains and high water levels dampen your upcoming outing to the lake or river. The Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District is advising visitors to check reservations to ensure campsites, boat ramps and day-use-areas are not closed.

    VICKSBURG, Miss., May 19, 2015 -- Jared Gartman, Chief of Readiness and Contingency Operations for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi Valley Division, was selected to serve as an Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) Commissioner, as the Federal Agency Representative to the Commission. EMAP’s mission fosters excellence and accountability in emergency management and homeland security programs, by establishing credible standards applied in a peer review accreditation process.

    Vicksburg, Miss… This summer the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District is promoting life jacket use with the Wear It to Win It! campaign on Facebook and Twitter. May 20th through July 8th, the Corps is offering prizes to those who submit photos of themselves or their friends and family properly wearing a life jacket.
