Corps Announces 2016 Recreation User Fees

Vicksburg, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announces its 2016 schedule of user fees at recreation areas at Arkabutla, Enid, Grenada and Sardis lakes in north Mississippi. The fees for campsites range from $8 per night for a site in a primitive campground to $14-$20 a night for a site with electrical hookups in a Class "A" campground.

Certain Corps recreational facilities within the Vicksburg District are included in the National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS). Visitors can reserve these Class A campsites up to six months in advance of the date of use by calling a nationwide toll free number, 1-877-444-6777. However, between 10 and 40 percent of the Class A campsites at the four lakes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

During 2016, a fee of $50 to $75 will be charged for reserving a group picnic shelter or amphitheater at Arkabutla, Enid, and Grenada lakes. Grenada Lake also has one very large group picnic shelter with seating for 120 people at the tables which has a fee of $100 per day. At Sardis Lake, a picnic shelter can be reserved for $100 for 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Reservations for use of picnic shelters or amphitheaters will be made at the applicable field office.

A fee of $5 per day is charged year round to use day use areas which include boat launching ramps and/or designated swimming beaches. A fee of $20 per day is charged for commercial vehicles (buses) to use a day use area, and a fee of $2 per day is charged for walk-in or bike-in visitors to use a day use area. The Annual Pass for Day User Fees, which permits the holder and accompanying passengers to use all boat ramps and swimming beaches operated by the Corps nationwide for $40 in 2016. The pass is a hangtag design which is to be attached to an interior rearview mirror. The Annual Pass can be used on any vehicle the pass holder owns and is valid for one year from the date of purchase.

In the Vicksburg District, there is a $75 fee for obtaining a permit to host a special event on Corps property. Contact the applicable field office for guidelines on special event permits to know whether or not the fee applies to your event.
