  • Narrows Dam/Lake Greeson to Increases Current Releases

    Vicksburg, Miss. – Due to recent heavy rains, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has increased current releases through the structure at Narrows Dam/Lake Greeson in Arkansas. The release will be increased to 2,200 cubic feet per second (cfs), which is equivalent to all three units generating at full load. Safety remains our top priority so please be aware of high water and currents. This release will affect the ability for some visitors to bank and wade fish downstream of Narrows Dam due to water level and increased flow.
  • UPDATE: Arkabutla Dam Emergency - Lake levels expected to rise above 215 feet due to recent rains

    Vicksburg, Miss – Recent storms dropped between three and five inches of rain in the area upstream of Arkabutla Lake. The lake level has risen above 210 ft. and is expected to peak above 215 ft. in the next few days. Pool levels at Arkabutla Dam, located in DeSoto and Tate Counties in Northwest Mississippi, can fluctuate quickly especially during the rainy season.
  • USACE Vicksburg District Announces Arkabutla Lake Youth Raccoon Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announces an upcoming raccoon hunt at Arkabutla Lake. This will be an excellent opportunity for youth hunters, ages 10-15, to experience a guided raccoon hunt at Arkabutla Lake.
  • Most Columbia Pool boat ramps reopen along the Ouachita River

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – Six Corps of Engineers managed boat ramps on the Ouachita River have been modified and reopened along the Ouachita River above the Columbia Lock and Dam, located approximately seven miles upstream of Columbia, LA. The ramps were closed in August 2024, due to an emergency declaration at the Columbia Lock and Dam that required the lowering of pool levels.
  • USACE Vicksburg District Announces Arkabutla Lake Bald Eagle Survey

    VICKSBURG, MS - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces that Arkabutla Lake will hold its annual Bald Eagle Survey on January 4, 2025, from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the event should meet at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office, located at 5500 Arkabutla Dam Road, Hernando, MS.
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces it will not raise pool levels at Felsenthal Lock and Dam for Waterfowl Season

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that the biannual planned pool raise at Felsenthal Lock and Dam, located on the Ouachita River in south central Arkansas, will not take place this year. The purpose of the pool raise is to expand acreage for waterfowl hunts within the Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District extends Non-Breach Emergency at Columbia Lock and Dam in central Louisiana

    Vicksburg, Miss. – The US Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District has extended the non-breach emergency at the Columbia Lock and Dam located on the Ouachita River approximately seven miles upstream of Columbia, LA. This declaration allowed the Corps to adjust water levels upstream and downstream of the lock and dam to investigate concerns while safely operating the structure for the navigation industry.
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces changes in campground fees for North MS Lakes

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces that beginning May 1, 2025, new fee rates will go into effect for selected campgrounds at Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, and Grenada Lakes. On May 1, rates for all Class A campgrounds with full hookups (water, sewer, electric) will increase from $24 to $30 per night.
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces Youth Waterfowl Hunt at Sardis Lake

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Sardis Lake and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will hold a youth waterfowl hunt on February 8, 2025, at the Sardis Waterfowl Refuge. This hunt will provide an opportunity for experienced hunters to teach younger generations of hunters the proper techniques and ethics of the sport.
  • USACE Vicksburg District’s Arkabutla Lake accepting applications for Youth Squirrel Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Arkabutla Lake will hold a youth squirrel hunt on January 11-12, 2025, and January 18-19, 2025, in the management area near Arkabutla Lake Dam. The youth squirrel hunt will provide an opportunity for experienced small game hunters to educate younger generations of hunters on proper techniques and ethics of the sport.
