  • Enjoy America’s Waterways, Play It Safe and Return Home Alive

    Vicksburg, Miss… Before you head out for a day on or near the water, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) encourages you to make sure you have life jackets for everyone and that they please wear them. On average, 9 out of 10 people who drowned at a USACE lake or river project didn’t wear a life jacket. Life jackets save lives by keeping you afloat and providing time for rescue.
  • Red River Waterway Presents Annual Water Resource Festival

    Vicksburg, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in conjunction with the Red River Waterway Commission and other partners, are hosting the 10th Annual Red River Water Resource Festival May 8-9, 2015. The two-day festival begins at 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8th, with safe summer presentations for approximately 500 5th-7th graders from Caddo, Bossier, and Webster parishes.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 21, 2015 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) today released the Final Assessment Report of the Lower Mississippi River Resource Assessment. This report addresses habitat, recreation and information needs on the Lower Mississippi River.

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District recently announced the selection of Randy Holder as chief of its evaluation section of the regulatory branch of Operations Division. In this position, Holder will be responsible for the supervision of an interdisciplinary team tasked with the oversight, development, and issuance of standard permits, letters of permission, mitigation banks, and cultural resource reviews.

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, recently announced the selection of Cori Carraway as chief of the permit section of the regulatory branch of Operations Division. Carraway will be responsible for the supervision of an interdisciplinary team tasked with the oversight, development, and issuance of nationwide permits, regional general permits, and compliance.
  • District names new manager for Corps’ Arkansas Lakes

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District recently named Rick Dwyer as its manager for three Arkansas Corps lakes including DeGray, Greeson and Lake Ouachita. Dwyer will be responsible for managing the three Arkansas Corps lakes with each of their hydropower plants, and 114,183 acres of public lands with 49 recreational areas. He will also manage a combined staff of 188 Corps and contract employees with an average budget of approximately $19 million.
