  • District Announces New Chief of Natural Resources and Environmental Compliance Section

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District recently announced the selection of Jonathan Harrell as chief of its Natural Resources and Environmental Compliance Section of Operations Division.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosting Public Meeting on Project Master Plan

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s at Arkabutla Lake has scheduled a public meeting regarding the update of the Project Master Plan. The meeting will be held March 4, 2015, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Arkabutla Lake Field office, 5500 Arkabutla Dam Road, Hernando, Mississippi 38632.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosts Annual Fish Habitat Day

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The public is invited to participate in the annual Fish Habitat Day to be held February 21, 2015 at Arkabutla Lake. This annual event will be the hauling of discarded Christmas trees to the bottom of the lake and stake beds in the coves to create and improve fish habitat at Arkabutla Lake.
  • Vicksburg District Hosts 3rd Annual Math Competition

    Vicksburg, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District and the Vicksburg Chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers sponsored a math competition for 59 students from Porter's Chapel Academy, Scholastic Academy, St. Aloysius Catholic School, Warren Central Junior High, and Vicksburg Junior High.
  • Vicksburg District Promotes Mallard

    Vicksburg, Miss… The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District has selected Jennifer Mallard as Chief of the Operations Division’s Regulatory Branch. Mallard will serve as chief of the Regulatory Branch and be responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of the Corps of Engineers’ regulatory program authority within the geographic boundaries of the Vicksburg District. She will assist in making final decisions on Federal authorizations for non-USACE projects impacting all waters of the United States throughout the District and oversee controversial and/or politically sensitive in nature project evaluations.
  • New Floating Dock Available at Grenada Lake

    VICKSBURG, Miss… A floating dock was recently installed at Grenada Landing’s boat ramp of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Grenada Lake by EZ Dock Contractors of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Grenada Landing was the chosen site for the floating ramp due to the popularity of this ramp. The dock meets all American Disabilities Act guidelines, accommodates four to five boats, and is equipped with handrails, benches, bumpers, and cleats.
  • Grenada Lake Hosting Youth Waterfowl Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss…A youth waterfowl hunt will be held at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Grenada Lake on Saturday, January 31, 2015. All persons under the age of 16 are eligible for the hunt and must be accompanied by an adult, 21 years of age or older. All participants will be responsible for meeting age appropriate state and federal waterfowl hunting regulations. The hunters are encouraged to bring all necessary materials associated with waterfowl hunting such as decoys, chest-waders, duck calls, steel shot, and shotgun.
  • DeGray Lake Hosts Hunt for Persons with Disabilities

    VICKSBURG, Miss…A special hunting event will be held at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s DeGray Lake for persons with permanent mobility impairment. The hunt, scheduled for January 24-25, 2015, will provide access, facilities and other needed resources for these individuals to enjoy a safe and quality recreational experience.
  • Notice of Availability for Leasing Real Property at Sardis Lake, Mississippi

    Vicksburg, Miss...The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will lease agricultural lands at Sardis Lake, Mississippi, to the public. These properties will be used for crops, hay, highly erodible land, pasture, and grazed woods, and are located in Panola, Marshall, and Lafayette Counties, Mississippi, and consist of approximately 900 acres.
  • Lake Greeson Hosts Squirrel Hunt for Combat Veterans

    VICKSBURG, Miss… A squirrel hunt for combat veterans has been scheduled for January 16-17, 2015, at Lake Greeson of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District. Park rangers with Lake Greeson along with personnel of the Wounded Warriors, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Kirby Landing Motel and Marina of Kirby, Arkansas, have combined efforts to host this hunt dubbed “Squirrel-A-Palooza”.
