  • Enid Lake Hosting Public Meeting on Project Master Plan

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Enid Lake Field Office has scheduled a public meeting regarding the update of the Project Master Plan. The meeting will be held March 18, 2015, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor and Education Center located below the Enid Lake dam, off I-55 Exit 233.
  • Mississippi River Commission schedules high-water inspection trip

    VICKSBURG, Miss., March 9, 2015 -- The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River March 23-27, 2015. Four public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.
  • Arkabutla Lake Postpones Public Meeting

    VICKSBURG, Miss… Due to inclement weather, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Arkabutla Lake has postponed a public meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, March 4, 2015. The meeting was regarding the update of the Project Master Plan, and will be rescheduled for a later date. The Project Master Plan is the strategic land use management document that guides the comprehensive management and development of all projects recreational, natural, and cultural resources. The goal of the update is to identify the best management practices to respond to regional needs, resource capabilities, and expressed public interests consistent with the authorized project purposes.
  • Grenada Lake Hosting Public Meeting on Project Master Plan

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Grenada Lake has scheduled a public meeting regarding the update of the Project Master Plan. The meeting will be held March 11, 2015, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Grenada Lake ranger conference room (across from the Visitor Center), 2088 Scenic Loop 333, Grenada, Mississippi 38901.
  • Grenada Lake Hosting Fish Habitat Day

    VICKSBURG, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Grenada Lake is hosting its Fish Habitat Day February 21, 2015. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Bryant Boat Ramp at 8:00 a.m. for a light breakfast.
  • Lower Mississippi River Museum in Need of More Volunteers

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District is seeking more volunteers to operate the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum and Interpretive Site (LMRM). Civic clubs, groups or individuals are welcome to volunteer. Many thanks to those who are already volunteering their services at the LMRM. The overall goal of the LMRM is to provide visitors with background information on the Mississippi River while providing educational aspects of life on the river. Each LMRM display is unique, covering a variety of topics on river history, Corps history, and flood risk management.

    Vicksburg, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Enid Lake is hosting its annual Clean Up Day February 28, 2015. Volunteers for this event should meet at the Enid Lake Field Office at 7:00 a.m. at either of the following locations: Enid Lake Field Office, Chickasaw Hill Boat Ramp, or Sylva Rena Grocery.

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The public is invited to participate in the annual Fish Habitat Day to be held February 21, 2015 at Arkabutla Lake. This annual event will be the hauling of discarded Christmas trees to the bottom of the lake and stake beds in the coves to create and improve fish habitat at Arkabutla Lake.
