  • District Announces Annual Engineer’s Day Awards

    Vicksburg, Miss… The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Vicksburg District recently hosted its annual Engineer’s Day awards ceremony at District Headquarters.
  • Corps Awards Contract for Resurfacing of Levee Enlargement

    VICKSBURG, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District recently awarded Riley Bridge Co., Inc. of Russellville, Alabama, a $2,354,179 contract for work on a section of levee at Mississippi Highway 465. The work consists of replacing the gravel surface of the levee with an asphalt surface on the crown. The project is approximately 4.7 miles in length, and is located about three miles north of Lake Albermarle.
  • Mississippi Corps Lakes Lower Than Usual, Play It Safe and Return Home Alive

    Vicksburg, Miss… North Mississippi is currently experiencing drought-like conditions that are responsible for low water levels at four area Corps of Engineers lakes: Arkabutla, Enid, Grenada, and Sardis.
  • President's Fiscal 2018 Budget for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Program released

    The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2018 (FY 2018) includes $5.002 billion in gross discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). "The fiscal 2018 Civil Works budget for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reflects the administration's priorities to support and improve the nation's economy and infrastructure, and to protect the American people," said Mr. Doug Lamont, senior official performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. "This Budget supports the core mission areas of coastal and inland navigation, reducing flood risks from riverine flooding and along our coasts, and restoring aquatic ecosystems.”

    Vicksburg, Miss… The Lake Ouachita Water Storage Agreement will be executed Tuesday May 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Lake Ouachita Project Office, 1424 Blakely Dam Road, Royal, AR between the Army and Mid-Arkansas Water Alliance (MAWA).

  • Mississippi River Commission schedules high-water inspection trip

    VICKSBURG, Miss., March 17, 2017 -- The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River April 3-7, 2017. Four public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosts 15th Annual Fish Habitat Day

    VICKSBURG, Miss… Team members of the Corps’ Arkabutla Lake partnered with biologists from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) to host the 15th annual Fish Habitat Day at Arkabutla Lake. The event consisted of placing Christmas trees as fish habitat structures in the dry lake bed to improve the fish habitat at Arkabutla Lake.
  • Corps’ Vidalia Area Office Contract Administration Expert Retires

    Vicksburg, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District area engineer for the Vidalia Area Office recently retired. For 33 years, Richard A. Jones served the Corps with distinction and honor and is considered a subject matter expert in construction contract administration.
