  • USACE Vicksburg District announces Sardis Lake Youth Fishing Rodeo

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces the Sardis Lake Youth Fishing Rodeo will be held on April 29 at Cypress Point Recreation Area.
  • Mississippi River Commission prepares for spring high-water inspection trip

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual spring high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River, March 27- 31, 2023. The Commission will host four public meetings onboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in towns along the river, with its members meeting with local partners, stakeholders and residents hearing their concerns, ideas and issues.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Mat Sinking Unit (MSU) concluded the 2022 revetment season and returned to Vicksburg Harbor yesterday.
  • USACE Vicksburg District signs Planning Assistance to States agreement with City of Clinton

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District entered a Planning Assistance to States (PAS) agreement with the City of Clinton, Mississippi, Feb. 28 as part of the Water Resources Development Act (Section 22). District Commander Col. Christopher Klein signed the agreement for USACE and Mayor Phil Fisher signed for the City of Clinton. The signing ceremony was held at Olde Towne Depot in Clinton.
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces Project Partnership Agreement with city of Jackson

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District entered into a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) with the City of Jackson, Mississippi, February 6, 2023, as part of the Environmental Infrastructure (EI) Program (Section 219) as authorized by the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 1992.
  • USACE Vicksburg District sponsors SAME math competition for local students

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District and the Vicksburg chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) hosted a math competition for local students Jan. 26 at the district’s headquarters in Vicksburg, Miss. The math competition was for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Students from St. Aloysius High School, Porter's Chapel Academy, Academy of Innovation (AOI), Bovina Elementary, Bowmar Elementary, Beechwood Elementary, Redwood Elementary and St. Francis participated in the event.

    Vicksburg, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s DeGray Lake and hydropower plant will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a welcome ceremony and open house Jan. 18 from 9-11:30 a.m. at DeGray Lake Visitor Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The event is free and open to the public. The visitor center is located at 543 Skyline Drive Arkadelphia, Arkansas, 71923. Parking will be available onsite along with overflow parking at the spillway boat ramp.
