    VICKSBURG, Miss. – Seven Corps of Engineers managed boat ramps on the Ouachita River have been closed due to a recent three foot draw down on the Ouachita River above the Columbia Lock and Dam, located approximately seven miles upstream of Columbia, LA.
  • Vicksburg District Kicks Off Revetment Season

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Mat Sinking Unit (MSU) officially began the annual revetment season on the Mississippi River on Tuesday. The MSU typically performs revetment operations during low-water months (July-December), when the Vicksburg gage is at 27’ and falling.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announces Non-Breach Emergency at Columbia Lock and Dam in central Louisiana.

    Vicksburg, Miss. – The US Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District has declared a non-breach emergency at the Columbia Lock and Dam located on the Ouachita River approximately seven miles upstream of Columbia, LA. This declaration allows the Corps to adjust water levels upstream and downstream of the lock and dam to investigate concerns while safely operating the structure for the navigation industry.

    MOUNTAIN PARK, Ark. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Lake Ouachita Field Office, in partnership with Friends of Lake Ouachita, Lake Ouachita State Park, and Keep Arkansas Beautiful, will host a Lake Ouachita cleanup on Saturday, September 14th, 2024.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – On August 13, 2024, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District signed a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) with the City of Gautier, Mississippi, under the Mississippi Environmental Infrastructure Program (Section 592).
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces special dove hunt at Grenada Lake

    VICKSBURG, Miss. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announces that Grenada Lake will host a dove hunt on September 7-8, 2024. This year’s hunt will be a draw hunt and will be held in two separate locations. Hunt area 1 is located north of Highway 332 between the Grenada Lake Dam and the Grenada Airport and hunt area 2 is located at Grenada Waterfowl Refuge near Sabougla.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers Extends Comment Period for Yazoo Backwater Area Management Draft Environmental Impact Statement to August 27, 2024

    VICKSBURG, Miss. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, has announced a 15-day extension of the public comment period for the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) related to the Yazoo Backwater Area Management Project. Originally set to conclude on August 12, 2024, the new deadline for submitting comments is now August 27, 2024.
  • Sardis Lake Recreation Area Announces Temporary Closures and Boating Restrictions on Lower Lake in August and September

    Sardis Lake, Miss. – Sardis Lake, located in northwest Mississippi, will temporarily cease water releases in early August to gather data for the installation of new relief wells in the outlet channel and behind the wingwalls through borings. While releases are halted, water levels in the lower lake below the dam will be lower than normal. The water levels will drop up to 5.5 feet during this time. This will affect recreation access to many areas around the lower lake through the months of August and September, including the Labor Day Holiday.
