VICKSBURG, Miss. – Seven Corps of Engineers managed boat ramps on the Ouachita River have been closed due to a recent three foot draw down on the Ouachita River above the Columbia Lock and Dam, located approximately seven miles upstream of Columbia, LA.

Ramps at the following locations have been closed until further notice:

  • Riverton Recreation Area
  • Prairion Recreation Area
  • Bawcomville Recreation Area
  • Moon Lake Recreation Area
  • Sterlington Recreation Area
  • Finch Bayou Recreation Area
  • Felsenthal South Recreation Area

The lowering of the pool above the dam is in response to a recent non-breach emergency declaration by the Vicksburg District to facilitate a comprehensive inspection and to complete maintenance work to address concerns that were discovered at the Columbia Lock and Dam last week.
