  • IMPORTANT: Location Change for Yazoo Backwater Study Area Draft Environmental Impact Statement Public Meetings

    Vicksburg, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District has announced a series of public meetings to gather feedback on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Yazoo Backwater Study Area. The DEIS, published on June 28, 2024, outlines proposed actions and potential impacts related to flood risk management in the region. The meetings previously scheduled on Monday, July 22, 2024, at South Delta Elementary School in Rolling Fork will now be held at South Delta High School Gymnasium located at 303 Parkway St, Rolling Fork, MS 39159. Meeting times will remain the same.

  • USACE Vicksburg District’s Levee Safety Center personnel recognized in annual national awards

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Levee Safety Center was recently recognized by USACE Headquarters (HQ USACE) for exceptional contributions of excellence in performance, leadership, professional development, and support throughout the Levee Safety Program. Levee Safety Program Manager Melissa Mullen was selected as the 2024 Levee Safety Professional of the Year for her excellence in levee safety contributions. Award nominations were received agency-wide and the HQ USACE Levee Safety Committee chose Mullen out of numerous candidates.
