Lake Greeson Hosts Squirrel Hunt for Combat Veterans

VICKSBURG, Miss… A squirrel hunt for combat veterans has been scheduled for January 16-17, 2015, at Lake Greeson of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District. Park rangers with Lake Greeson along with personnel of the Wounded Warriors, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Kirby Landing Motel and Marina of Kirby, Arkansas, have combined efforts to host this hunt dubbed “Squirrel-A-Palooza”. Manager for Corps' Arkansas Lakes Retires After 42 Year

VICKSBURG, Miss…The manager of the Vicksburg District’s Arkansas lakes recently retired. For 42 years, Brenda Meeks served the Corps with distinction and honor and was an outstanding ambassador for Lake Ouachita, DeGray Lake and Lake Greeson. She was a tremendous advocate for recreational facilities, resulting in numerous partnerships with local communities and organizations surrounding the three lakes. [Read More]

Arkabutla Lake Hosts 15th Annual Eagle Watch

VICKSBURG, MISS… Arkabutla Lake will host the 15th annual Mid Winter Bald Eagle Survey, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. Volunteers will watch, count and document movement of bald eagles around Arkabutla Lake. Mat Sinking Unit Completes Season

Notice of Availability of Leased Lands near Sardis Lake

Vicksburg, Miss. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District is offering agricultural land for lease to the public. These sections of agricultural lands consist of several tracts in Lafayette, Marshall, and Panola counties near Sardis Lake. The Notice of Availability number for these tracts is DACW38-9-15-6. Boy Scouts Build Wood Duck Nesting Boxes for Waterfowl at Arkabutla Lake

VICKSBURG, MISS… Nine boy scouts from Troop 41, Hernando, recently built wood duck nesting boxes for waterfowl at Arkabutla Lake. The scouts converted 40 1x10x12 rough cut cypress planks into luxury suites that resulted in 66 boxes. The boxes will be placed on 4x4 posts around the backwaters and coves of Arkabutla Lake and the Coldwater River channel and sloughs scattered throughout the Askew Wildlife Management Area. Youth Raccoon Hunt to be held at Arkabutla Lake

Arkabutla Lake Hosting Youth Waterfowl Hunt

VICKSBURG, MISS… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Arkabutla Lake personnel and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host a youth waterfowl hunt on January 24th and 25th 2015, in a management area near Arkabutla Lake Dam.
