  • Red River - Lindy C. Boggs Lock Set to Reopen Saturday, November 18, 2023

    Vicksburg, Miss. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District is pleased to announce that the Lindy C. Boggs Lock, will resume locking vessels beginning on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 6:00 a.m. The lock will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Aug. 19 as a precautionary response to the degradation of the spillway gates at Lindy C. Boggs Lock and Dam (L&D) on the Red River.
  • USACE Vicksburg District to close Lindy C. Boggs Lock and Dam

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District will temporarily close Lindy C. Boggs, Lock and Dam (L&D) to navigation on the Red River during two separate periods, Aug. 15 – Sept. 15 to dewater the upper gate and Oct. 1 – 30 to dewater the lower gate. The lock will temporarily reopen on approximately Sept. 16 and remain open for 15 days to allow traffic to pass. During the dewatering’s of the upper and lower gate bays, the district will make repairs, inspect the structure, and plan for future maintenance.
