Enid Lake Hosting Annual Clean Up Day

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that holds seven major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline levees. The district is engaged in hundreds of projects and supports disaster response in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

 Vicksburg, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Enid Lake is hosting its annual Clean Up Day February 28, 2015. Volunteers for this event should meet at the Enid Lake Field Office at 7:00 a.m. at either of the following locations: Enid Lake Field Office, Chickasaw Hill Boat Ramp, or Sylva Rena Grocery.

Clean Up Day is being sponsored by the Enid Lake Volunteers for Waste Management. The work will be focused on Enid Lake’s main access roads, recreational areas, and the shoreline.

Enid Lake Volunteers for Waste Management has been responsible for picking up more than 813 compacted cubic yards of trash and debris, and removal of more than 700 tires from the shoreline and roadways around Enid Lake.

Although the primary mission of Enid Lake is flood damage risk reduction, almost 1.5 million individuals visit Enid Lake annually to enjoy the campgrounds, fishing areas, hiking trails, playgrounds, boat ramps and swimming beaches. The lake traffic brings approximately $10,500,000 annually to the local economy and supports almost 170 jobs.
