Applications Available for Arkabutla Lake’s Annual Physically Challenged Deer Hunt

Vicksburg, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Arkabutla Lake will host its annual Physically Challenged Deer Hunt on December 12-15, 2014. There will be two hunts, December 12-13 and December 14-15.

The hunts are limited to applicants who are quadriplegic, paraplegic or ambulatory with the use of leg braces or crutches.

Applications are now available at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office. The deadline for receiving applications is 3:00 p.m., August 29, 2014. A public drawing will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, 10:00 a.m. at Pavilion #734 in the South Abutment Day Use Area.

Located approximately 30 minutes south of Memphis, Tennessee, Arkabutla Lake is one of the four north Mississippi Corps lakes within the Vicksburg District. Receiving approximately two million visitors a year, the lake accommodates a variety of recreational opportunities throughout the year. There are three Class A Campgrounds with 230 campsites complete with electricity; water, showers, flush comfort stations, and dump stations. These campgrounds are located at Dub Patton, Hernando Point, and South Abutment Recreation areas.
