Corps of Engineers Offers Free Boat Safety Inspections

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that holds seven major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline levees. Vicksburg, Miss...The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Vicksburg District’s Louisiana Field Office (LFO) rangers will be offering free boat safety inspections during the week of 1 - 9 June 2013 to help promote safe boating practices.

 

Since most boats have not been used since last year’s summer season, the LFO rangers will conduct safety checks at boat landing locations at Jonesville, Columbia, Moon Lake and Bayou Bodcau from 10am to noon. on 8 and 9 June 2013. Rangers will also be at Felsenthal Landing in Arkansas from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on 8 and 9 June 2013.

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana. The Louisiana Field Office provides day-use activities and camping at the Ouachita-Black River, Red River, Bayou Bodcau, Caddo Lake, and Wallace Lake. These three river systems and two lakes have an annual attendance totaling over 1.2 million that support approximately 200 jobs and add approximately $13 million into the local economy.
