USACE Vicksburg District’s Grenada Lake to host special youth deer hunt

Vicksburg, MS - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District is accepting applications for the annual special youth deer hunt at the Grenada Lake Dam Area.

The hunt will take place: Dec. 22-24, 2023, and Jan. 5-7, 2024. Registration begins on Nov. 9, 2023, and runs through November 15, 2023.  Grenada Lake is excited to host this special hunt to encourage youth to become more involved in hunting, outdoor recreation, and wildlife conservation.

To register for the hunt please send an email including the youth hunter’s name and age along with the accompanying adults name, age, and phone number to will.clark@usace.army.mil. No early or late registration entries will be accepted.

Hunters and hunting areas will be chosen through a random drawing. Eligible hunters must be 8 to 15 years of age and accompanied by a parent or guardian over 21 years of age with a valid Mississippi Hunting License.

Ground blinds and 2-man ladder stands will be placed in each area for the hunter’s use. Youth hunters may harvest one buck and two does during the hunt. Drawn participants will be given a packet with rules and regulations as well as a map of the hunting areas.
