Sardis Lake to temporarily close some sites at Oak Grove Campground

Published Sept. 5, 2018

SARDIS, Miss. –  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sardis Lake is resuming a project that is incrementally adding sewer hookups to all 83 campsites in Oak Grove Campground. The next phase of the project will temporarily close sites 64-70 and is scheduled to begin on Sept. 4, 2018. The other 76 sites in the campground will remain open to the public.

Located below Sardis Dam and adjacent to the 425-acre lower lake, Oak Grove is very popular with Sardis Lake visitors. The campground already provides water and 50-amp electrical hookups at each site, but modern RV users also enjoy the benefits that individual sewer hookups offer.

These sites will be unavailable for camping until the construction is completed and the timeframe for reopening the sites to campers is unknown at this time.

The primary mission of the Mississippi lakes is to provide flood risk reduction. With approximately 1.3 million visitors each year, Sardis Lake also contributes approximately $26 million into the local economy. For more information visit our website at www.mvk.usace.army.mil.
