The USACE Vicksburg District owns and operates more than 100 recreation areas across Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana where millions of visitors enjoy fishing, camping, hunting, boating, hiking, swimming, geocaching, and more every year. The district’s 10 flood-control reservoirs across Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana provide numerous benefits to the region, including flood risk management, hydropower, water supply, wildlife management, and recreation.

  • Vicksburg District’s Chief of Design Branch Receives Commander’s Award For Outstanding Achievement in EEO

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announces that David L. Wallace, recently received the Commander’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO). Wallace received this award for his significant contributions to the EEO Program to assure full opportunity in employment for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, and physical or mental handicap.
  • Corps’ Vicksburg District Hosts a Blessing of the Fleet

    Vicksburg, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District will host a Blessing of the Fleet ceremony on July 10, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at the Vicksburg Harbor, 2449 Haining Road. A tradition that dates back to medieval times, the Blessing of the Fleet originally started in early European fishing communities. A blessing bestowed by a local priest was meant to ask for an abundant and safe season.

    VICKSBURG, MISS… The Vicksburg District is proud to announce that Kristopher C. Ellis has been selected as the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District 2018 Employee of the Year. Ellis received the award for his outstanding demonstration of Army and Corps values, leadership and mentorship. In addition, Ellis meets the district's mission with excellence and has an exemplary list of accomplishments.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2018 (FY 2018) work plan for the Army Civil Works program on Thursday, June 7.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) today opened the updated National Levee Database (NLD) for public access. The NLD is a living, dynamic information source that provides visualization and search capability on the location and condition of levee systems nationwide.

    VICKSBURG, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announces the update of two recreational policies at Arkabutla, Enid, Grenada, and Sardis lakes, effective June 1, 2018.
  • Enid Lake Bridge Closure

    VICKSBURG, MISS… As a precautionary measure, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District is closing the Enid Lake access bridge on Pope Road adjacent to the visitor center and fish hatchery off Interstate 55. The bridge is closed until further notice. All Enid Lake boat ramps and camp grounds are open. Motorists visiting Enid Lake should be prepared to detour around the bridge closure.

    VICKSBURG, MISS…Department of the Army’s Office of Small Business Programs recently presented the 2017 Small Business Professional of the Year Award to Demetric T. Erwin. Erwin is the Deputy for the Vicksburg District’s Small Business Program and also serves as a special assistant to the District Engineer on all Small Business Program matters.
  • Vicksburg District Announces Promotion of 1st Lt. Cameron Fulford to Captain

    VICKSBURG, MISS… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, is proud to announce the promotion of 1st Lt. Cameron W. Fulford to the military rank of Captain. Capt. Fulford is working at the Vicksburg District through the Army’s Technical Engineer Competency Development Program (TEC-DP). TEC-DP allows 1st Lieutenants with engineering and architecture degrees the opportunity to work for USACE for 18 months before entering the Engineer Captain’s Career Course.
