Published Sept. 24, 2013

Vicksburg, Miss…Residents of area nursing homes and the local Human Development Center at Arkadelphia, will have the unique opportunity to enjoy an outdoor fishing opportunity. Media outlets are invited to attend.

Personnel at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers DeGray Lake Field Office will host a fishing derby for physically challenged persons on 25 September 2013, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Lake View Recreation Area at DeGray Lake. The participants will fish in groups from morning until around noon. In the past, as many as 100 persons participated in this event.

DeGray Lake is nationally known for its clean, clear water, and pristine shoreline. It is also known for its trophy winning hybrid stripers, crappie, and catfish.  Each year, thousands of people come to fish the waters of DeGray Lake. The Caddo River feeds the lake, making it a great habit for fish.  The lake hosts hundreds of local and national fishing tournaments.

Media are asked to contact Steven Rodgers at 870-246-5501, extension 64009 or Kavanaugh Breazeale at 601-631-5052 for more information.
