Robinson Promoted to Lead Economist

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that holds seven major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline levees. The district is engaged in hundreds of projects and supports disaster response in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

The district is engaged in hundreds of projects and supports disaster response in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

Vicksburg – Lee Robinson, lead economist of the Vicksburg District was recently selected as the new lead economist for the Mississippi Valley Division.  Robinson will be the lead for all economists throughout the six district offices in the Mississippi Valley Division. The Mississippi Valley Division is located in Vicksburg and oversees six district offices located in St. Paul, Minnesota; Rock Island, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Memphis, Tennessee; Vicksburg, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana.

 

The role of Corps economist is to determine the value of construction and developmental projects by using policies and guidelines and are part of a Project Delivery Team or PDT.  The PDT consists of economists, engineers, hydrologists, cost estimators, real estate specialists, biologists and others that factor in variables related to environmental opportunities, public safety concerns and politics, cost effectiveness and risk reduction.

 

His duties will include project review, training development, coordination with US Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters (Corps) and staff reorganization.

 

Robinson grew up in Hinds County, Mississippi and graduated from Raymond High School. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Economics from Mississippi State University. He is married to the former Amy Pugh of Vicksburg and they have two children. The Robinsons are active member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.
