VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has published a Revised Draft Environmental Impact Statement (RDEIS) for the Pearl River Basin Mississippi Federal Flood Risk Management Project to the Federal Register and is available for public viewing today, July 3, 2025. The statement evaluates flood risk management alternatives in Rankin and Hinds County, Mississippi.
The release of the RDEIS marks a major milestone in the project’s development and will initiate a 45-day public comment period, which will remain open until August 18, 2025. The original Draft EIS was released to the public on June 7, 2024. In response to significant public input and receiving more than six thousand comments, the Corps is releasing a revised draft to further refine the alternatives.

During the review period, USACE will hold public meetings to gather feedback and comments on the RDEIS. A virtual meeting is scheduled on Monday, July 14, 2025 and participating information will be available at the website above closer to the event. In-person meetings are planned as follows:
