Welcome to the Regulatory Branch of the
Vicksburg District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. For 234
years, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been involved
with the regulations of various activities in the nation's
waterways, including navigable waters and wetlands. As one
of the oldest programs in the Federal government, we are
committed to providing fair permit decisions with the
highest quality of customer service while protecting our
nation's aquatic resources and ecosystems.
Pursuant to Section 9 & 10 of the River and
Harbors Act of 1899 and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act
of 1972, the Vicksburg Regulatory Branch sees hundreds of
permit applications annually for projects varying in size; from
piers, wharfs, and weirs to constructed levees,
subdivisions, and pipelines, a permit is required by this
office for the discharge of dredged and/or fill material into
waters of the United States within our jurisdiction.
