The USACE Vicksburg District owns and operates more than 100 recreation areas across Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana where millions of visitors enjoy fishing, camping, hunting, boating, hiking, swimming, geocaching, and more every year. The district’s 10 flood-control reservoirs across Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana provide numerous benefits to the region, including flood risk management, hydropower, water supply, wildlife management, and recreation.

  • Precautionary flood fight measures will impact traffic near Blackhawk, LA

    Vicksburg, Miss… As a precautionary measure, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District is working to strengthen a section of the main line Mississippi levee system near Blackhawk, LA. This proactive effort will help reduce the water seepage and materials shifting in and around the levee system.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosts Youth Waterfowl Hunt

    Vicksburg, Miss…Arkabutla Lake of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks partnered to host the 13th Annual Youth Waterfowl Hunt held January 27, 2018 and February 3, 2018. The two-day hunt, opened for youth 10-15 years of age, was an opportunity for more experienced hunters to teach the younger hunters proper techniques and ethics of the sport.
  • Lower Mississippi River Museum in Need of More Volunteers

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District is seeking more volunteers to operate the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum and Interpretive Site (LMRM). Civic clubs, groups or individuals are welcome to volunteer.
  • Enid Lake Hosts 15th Annual Clean-Up Day

    VICKSBURG, Miss…Team members of the Corps’ Enid Lake is partnering with Enid Lake Volunteers for Waste Management to conduct Enid Lake’s 15th Annual Clean-Up Day to be held February 24, 2018. Volunteers interested in participating in this event can meet at one of the following areas at 7:00 a.m., Enid Lake Field Office, Chickasaw Hill Boat Ramp or Sylva Rena Grocery. Areas of focus will include Enid Lake’s main access roads, recreational areas, and shoreline.
  • District Names Chief for Finance and Accounting Branch

    VICKSBURG, MISS…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, recently selected Amber Huell as Chief of its Finance and Accounting Branch of the Resource Management Office. In this position, Huell will serve as staff advisor to the resource management officer, the Deputy Commander, and operating officials on fiscal matters pertaining to the District. She will lead and advise a staff of eight accountants who provide finance and accounting services to the District’s tri-state area of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosting Youth Waterfowl Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss… The US Army Corps of Engineers’ Arkabutla Lake and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host a youth waterfowl hunt on January 27, 2018 and February 3, 2018 in a management area near Arkabutla Lake Dam. The Youth Waterfowl Hunt will provide an opportunity for experienced waterfowl hunters to teach the younger generations of hunters proper techniques and ethics of the sport. A total of 12 hunters, six per hunt, will be selected from applications received by 3:00 p.m. January 13, 2018.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosting its Annual Youth Raccoon Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Arkabutla Lake is hosting its annual Youth Raccoon Hunt January 26-27, 2018, February 2-3, 2018, and February 9-10, 2018 for youth aged 10-15 years. Only two parties will be allowed to hunt per night. The hunt will be administered by both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Northwest Mississippi Raccoon Hunting Association. All hunters will be accompanied by a Corps team member and a member of the Northwest Mississippi Raccoon Hunting Association.
  • Arkabutla Lake Hosts 18th Annual Eagle Watch

    Vicksburg, Miss…Arkabutla Lake’s 18th Annual Eagle Watch will be held January 20, 2018. Volunteers will watch, count and document movement of bald eagles around Arkabutla Lake. Volunteers will meet at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office at 7:00 a.m. and sign volunteer paper work. No pre-registration required.
  • Louisiana Field Office Hosting its 13th Annual Physically Challenged Deer Hunt

    VICKSBURG, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisiana Field Office is hosting its 13th annual Physically Challenged Deer Hunt January 20, 2018 at the Columbia Lock and Dam. Eight disabled hunters are to be selected to hunt on the approximately 400 acres in the Columbia Lock and Dam area, located at 580 Lock Office Road, Columbia, LA 71418.
  • Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt at Columbia Lock and Dam

    VICKSBURG, MISS… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisiana Field Office is hosting its 13th annual Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Columbia Lock and Dam. Eight disabled hunters will be selected to hunt on the approximately 400 acres of Corps land in the Columbia Lock and Dam area that is normally closed to the public for hunting.
