New Rules for Sardis Lake Archery Area

Sardis, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sardis Lake Field Office announces new rules for archery hunting in the Sardis Lake archery areas. Beginning with the 2014-2015 deer hunting season, all hunters must have a permit prior to engaging in any hunting activity within the archery area.

Permits must be picked up at the Sardis Lake Field Office, and on the back of the permit form is a hunter survey that must be filled out. Hunters should return the form to the Sardis Lake Field Office or placed in a drop box at the conclusion of each season at one of two self-service collection stations located on Cold Springs Road and at River Road. All deer and turkey harvested must be checked in at one of these collection stations. This new process will enhance the management of game population and the gathering of biological data at Sardis Lake’s archery hunting areas.

The Sardis archery hunting areas are located on either side of Sardis Dam and have more than 1,000 acres for archery hunting only. Hunters may use long bows, recurves, and compound bows. Seasons, bag limits, and other regulations are set by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
