Vicksburg, Miss…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Louisiana Field Office (LFO) will host its ninth annual physically challenged deer hunt on Saturday, 18 January 2014, at the Columbia Lock and Dam. Eight disabled hunters will be randomly selected to hunt on approximately 400 acres adjacent to the Columbia Lock and Dam located near Columbia, Louisiana. The deadline to apply is 3 January 2014 with eight hunters being selected by random drawing on 6 January 2014.

This special deer hunt is designed to provide an outdoor recreational opportunity to a special group of individuals that have a permanent physical condition that severely impairs their mobility. The hunters will use primitive firearms and be transported by four-wheeled all terrain vehicles to plywood box stands. Some hunters will be accompanied by Corps rangers and volunteers.  The Caldwell Parish Sheriff’s office is supplying lunch with various local citizens and businesses donating time and food for the event.
