Vicksburg District Announces Holiday Schedule for Louisiana Visitor Centers

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that holds seven major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline levees. The district is engaged in hundreds of projects and supports disaster response in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

Vicksburg, MS…The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Vicksburg District is announcing the holiday schedules of the Louisiana Field Office (LFO) visitor centers. The centers are assisted by LFO staff and local volunteers who will not be available during the Christmas/New Year holiday season.

The J. Bennett Johnston Waterways Regional Visitor Center, located at 700 Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport, Louisiana, will also be closed December 20, 2015, and will reopen January 2, 2016.

The Grand Ecore Visitor Center, located at 106 Tauzin Island Road, Natchitoches, Louisiana, will be closed beginning December 20, 2015, and will reopen on January 6, 2016.

The Louisiana Field Office thank the volunteers for this past year's assistance and wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and are looking forwarding to serving you in 2016.

The Vicksburg District’s LFO provides day-use activities at two river systems and three lakes and encompasses the Ouachita-Black River, Red River, Bayou Bodcau, Caddo Lake, Wallace Lake, Grand Ecore Visitor Center, and the J. Bennett Johnston Waterway Regional Visitor Center. The annual attendance at these areas totals over 1.3 million visitors, supports approximately 200 jobs, and adds approximately $13 million into the local economy.
