Patriots’ Day at Ivan Lake to Honor Wounded Veterans

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that holds seven major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline levees. The district is engaged in hundreds of projects and supports disaster response in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

Vicksburg, Miss…… The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisiana Field Office of the Vicksburg District along with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and other local organizations will host their first Patriots’ Day at the Lake event. It is scheduled for May 3, 2014 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the 560-acre Ivan Lake of the Bayou Bodcau Dam and Recreation Area located at 1700 Bodcau Dam Road, Haughton, Louisiana.

Events will include canoeing, water safety programs, fishing, bow and arrow shooting, and lunch. It is expected to be a great time - food, fun, fellowship, and fishing to honor those who have given so much.

The Vicksburg District manages thousands of acres that offer an array of recreational opportunities to include fishing, boating, camping, hiking, bicycling, swimming, and photography. The Louisiana Field Office of the Corps encompasses over 200 miles along the Ouachita River from Camden, Arkansas, to Jonesville, Louisiana, containing 24 parks and boat ramps. It includes Bayou Bodcau Dam, Wallace Lake, Caddo Lake, 10 recreation areas on the Red River, Grand Ecore Visitor Center, and J Bennett Johnston Waterways Regional Visitor Center.
