The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has selected Ryan Reves as chief of the Inspection and Dam Safety Section in the Geotechnical Branch.

In this role under the Engineering and Construction Division, Reves will oversee all geological and geotechnical engineering studies, investigations and project inspections pertinent to the district’s Dam Safety Program.

VICKSBURG, Miss. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has selected Ryan Reves as chief of the Inspection and Dam Safety Section in the Geotechnical Branch.

In this role under the Engineering and Construction Division, Reves will oversee all geological and geotechnical engineering studies, investigations and project inspections pertinent to the district’s Dam Safety Program.

Reves will also provide advice and consultation to geologists, engineers and other program specialists on the geotechnical engineering aspects of all projects in the planning, design, construction and completion stages.

Reves previously served as the Dam Safety program manager since 2016. During that time, he managed the budgetary and programmatic requirements for the program’s portfolio, which includes 12 flood risk management dams, three hydropower dams and 14 navigation dams.

His duties included participating in flood fight meetings, coordinating Emergency Action Plans, and facilitating emergency exercises with state and local partners. He also coordinated with USACE Headquarters and Mississippi Valley Division Dam Safety offices, regional technical centers of expertise, district Operations and Engineering and Construction (E&C) divisions and industry partners.

Reves’ additional accomplishments include leading the two-year long Phase 2 Issue Evaluation Study for Blakely Mountain Dam and the emergency design and repair of Columbia Lock and Dam.

Reves began his career with the district in 2010 as a geotechnical engineer with the Dam Safety Section. His duties included performing dam inspections and risk assessments.

An alumnus of Mississippi State University, Reves holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Mississippi.
