Vicksburg, Miss… The Lake Ouachita Water Storage Agreement will be executed Tuesday May 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Lake Ouachita Project Office, 1424 Blakely Dam Road, Royal, AR between the Army and Mid-Arkansas Water Alliance (MAWA).

Colonel Michael Derosier will sign for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District and Dale Kimbrow will sign for MAWA.

The agreement was approved by, Mr. Douglas W. Lamont, the Senior Official Performing the Duties of the ASA(CW) on March 31, 2017.

The agreement provides that MAWA may utilize 2.63 percent of usable conservation storage, 49,983 acre-feet, for municipal and industrial water supply from Lake Ouachita.

The reallocated storage space provides approximately 30 million gallons per day (MGD) of raw water to members of MAWA including the City of Hot Springs, Hot Springs Village and North Garland Water.

Although the primary mission of Lake Ouachita is flood damage risk reduction and hydropower, the lake attracts millions of visitors to these recreation areas annually to enjoy the camping, playgrounds, swimming areas, several types of trails, fishing, boat ramps and marinas. Lake Ouachita is one of the three lakes in Arkansas maintained and operated by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District.
