  • USACE Vicksburg District announces new Strategic Planner

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has selected a new Strategic Planner to direct and manage long term project milestones across a variety of disciplines. Kristina “Kristi” Hall will coordinate with the USACE Vicksburg District’s senior leadership to ensure the district’s operational decisions maintain its record for continuous improvement. She will develop and implement short- and long-range strategic goals, oversee employee development programs, administer knowledge and quality management programs, and assist the district’s executive staff.
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces new Emergency Management Branch chief

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has selected a new Emergency Management Branch chief to lead and inform throughout crises situations. Robert Hess will serve as the principal advisor to USACE Vicksburg District Commander Col. Robert Hilliard on all matters relating to natural and technological disasters, national security emergencies, civil disturbances, and terrorism activities. He will also manage the Vicksburg District Emergency Management program.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has closed Sardis Lake’s Clear Creek Campground, including restroom buildings in the day use area, ahead of upcoming waste-water treatment facility maintenance.

  • USACE publishes Record of Decision for Yazoo Area Pumps Project

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) published its Record of Decision for the Yazoo Area Pumps Project Jan. 15. The Record of Decision details USACE’s decisions on the issues discussed in the Final Supplement No. 2 to the 1982 Yazoo Area Pump Project Final Environmental Impact Statement, which was published in the Federal Register in December 2020. The Record of Decision was signed by USACE Maj. Gen. Diana Holland, Commanding General, Mississippi Valley Division.
  • USACE Vicksburg District announces reservation changes for day use picnic shelters at north Mississippi lakes

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District will add group picnic shelters at Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, and Grenada lakes as reservable facilities starting in January. All group picnic shelters will be reservable on the www.recreation.gov website, and facilities will still be available for walk-up use on days that they are not already reserved. Picnic shelters at Sardis, Enid and Grenada lakes will be available for reservations on Jan. 1, while Arkabutla facilities will be available later in the month. Visitors will no longer be able to make reservations by calling field offices.
